This Privacy Policy explains how Budget Book ("Budget Book," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use https://budget-book-ten.vercel.app/ (the "Service").
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password (stored only in hashed form). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile information that Google provides. We do not receive your Google password.
Financial information you enter. Budget Book stores the budgeting data you choose to enter, such as transactions, income, expenses, categories, and notes. We do not connect to your bank accounts and do not collect bank credentials, account numbers, or transaction feeds.
Automatically collected information. Like most web services, we and our hosting providers automatically receive certain technical data, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and timestamps through server logs and cookies.
Error diagnostics. When the app encounters a problem, our error monitoring service (Sentry) receives a crash report containing the stack trace and device/browser information. Financial data is never included in these reports.
Cookies. We use cookies necessary for the Service to function (e.g., keeping you signed in). You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may break sign-in.
We use your information to: provide and operate the Service; authenticate you and secure your account; store and display the budgeting data you enter; respond to support requests; monitor, debug, and improve the Service; enforce our Terms of Service; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your financial data for advertising.
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service:
We may also disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Budget Book, our users, or others; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We retain your account information and data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information and data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate purposes such as backups (purged on a rolling 30-day cycle) and fraud prevention.
You may access, update, export, or delete your data at any time by emailing us at yourbudgetbook@gmail.com.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; the right to request deletion; the right to correct inaccurate information; and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. EEA, UK, and Swiss residents (GDPR). We process your data on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (operating the Service), our legitimate interests (security, improvement), and your consent where required. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Other U.S. states. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (e.g., Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas) may have similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability, exercisable via yourbudgetbook@gmail.com.
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we learn of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
The Service is operated from the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
The Service is not intended for children under 13 (per our Terms of Service), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at yourbudgetbook@gmail.com and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice and update the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
